About the Center for Reactor Information

The Center for Reactor Information (CFRI) is a volunteer organization whose membership comprises mainly retired engineers, scientists and researchers in nuclear reactor systems, technologies and safety.

Nuclear expertise of CFRI members

CFRI membership includes:

  • A retired director of materials science at U.S. national laboratory;
  • A retired manager of a commercial nuclear fuel recycle facility and manager of the analytical chemistry laboratory at a national laboratory;
  • A retired nuclear pioneer and book author;
  • A principal with a nuclear consulting firm;
  • Two retired directors of chemical technology at a national laboratory, both of whom were key researchers in developing initial nuclear fuel, fuel cycles, and the first boiling water and breeder reactors;
  • A retired technical editor;
  • A manager of a nuclear public affairs and volunteer development department;
  • A retired executive editor of a nuclear energy magazine;
  • Two experts on advanced fast reactors;
  • A retired metallurgy R & D, quality assurance and safety engineer; and
  • Three retired physicists/reactor engineers.

CFRI's Nuclear Document Review Committee

All documents issued by CFRI and posted on this web site are reviewed by CFRI's Nuclear Document Review Committee. Membership of this committee consists of:

  • The retired manager of a commercial nuclear fuel recycle facility and analytical chemistry laboratory (Committee Chair);
  • Two retired chemical technology scientists who excel in fuel-cycle research and advanced-reactor development;
  • A retired nuclear pioneer & book author;
  • Two technical editors with nuclear backgrounds;
  • A retired metallurgy R&D, quality assurance, and safety engineer; and
  • A nuclear physicist/reactor engineer.
